About Us - Our Story
The new Frontier ~ St. Albert Honda~ is a state-of-the-art facility, featuring innovative and contemporary technology that will support a vehicle purchasing and servicing experience that continues to focus on treating the Customer as # 1.
Our motto “It’s All About the Experience”, embodies all aspects of our business. We are proud to assist our clients and their families with enjoying their vehicle purchasing and/or servicing experiences. Our small family business has grown with the support of our many clients and the dedication of our team members - for these efforts we are sincerely grateful.
St. Albert Honda is a family business with strong roots in St. Albert and Morinville for almost 50 years, currently owned and operated by Ross and Jean Hodgins. Our founders, Brent & Ellen Hodgins and Garry Hodgins & Sonia Hodgins, began the business while living and raising their families in St. Albert.
1968 – 1975... The Hodgins brothers, Brent & Garry, owned & operated service stations. St. Albert Pacific 66 and St. Albert Premier Esso. 1975-1979... The business evolved into St. Albert Tire and Auto. Focusing on automotive service, tires, and general maintenance. 1979... Brent and Garry acquired the Honda Canada Automobile franchise. Frontier Honda became the business trade name for the automotive side. 1980... Frontier Honda moved to Morinville. The move to Morinville provided more space for inventory, an indoor showroom, and a larger service shop. Frontier Honda’s slogan became “Drive and Little, Save A Lot”.
1980 – 1991...Frontier Honda operated in the same building as its sister company Trailer Town, in the Morinville Business Park. 1989...Trailer Town was renamed RV City 1990...A major fire destroyed the main building’s service shop for both Frontier Honda and RV City. The service shop was unusable and needed extensive repairs. Frontier Honda's service center was relocated to RV City's showroom, south of the sales facility. 1992... Frontier Honda added parts & service counters, customer lounge, sales offices, and showroom facility onto the service building. Brent moved his office to Frontier Honda’s new location. Frontier Honda’s new, used, sales and service operations were permanently moved into a stand-alone facility. Frontier Honda’s slogan evolved into “It’s Worth the Drive” 1997... Frontier Honda was remodeled, to reflect Honda Canada'a design standards. The renovation included modernizing the showroom and customer service spaces. 2000...Frontier Honda expanded again, adding three customer orientation bays on the north side of the showroom. Frontier Honda employees now introduced customers to their new and used vehicles in a climate controlled environment. 2001...Succession begins; Ross & Jean Hodgins begin the process of purchasing G.B. Business Enterprises Ltd. d/ba as Frontier Honda & RV City 2003...Brent and Garry retired from day to day activity within the business. 2006...Frontier Honda started making plans to return the business to St. Albert. St. Albert was a growing metropolitan community that did not have an import dealership within its city boundaries. Frontier Honda acquired 6.2 acres of raw land in Sturgeon County adjacent to St. Albert’s northern boundary.
2007...St. Albert increased their boundaries thru annexation, including the property earmarked for Frontier Honda. 2008 – 2014...Partnering with Landrex Hunter Ridge and the City of St. Albert, services were expanded to develop the Erin Ridge North commercial corridor. 2011...Ross & Jean complete the purchase of G.B. Business Enterprises Ltd. d/ba Frontier Honda and RV City 2014...Planning & Construction begins…Scott Builders was selected to work on the design and construction of the New Frontier Honda. Groundwork started July 2014. By the fall, the site was fully paved and the framing of the steel superstructure was underway. Frontier Honda achieves another milestone celebrating 35 years as a Honda Dealer.
July 2015...Frontier Honda is moving to St. Albert. The former Frontier Honda building will be remodeled to accommodate RV City. July 18 & 19, 2015...The Big Move.
July 20, 2015... The New Frontier… St. Albert Honda. St. Albert Honda opens their doors to a new customer experience.
The business name, St. Albert Honda, was selected to reflect our new urban surroundings and to pay tribute to where our family business started in 1968. Welcome to St. Albert Honda.
Our employees, our team understand and share the importance of a positive customer interaction. This does not change with the transformation from Frontier Honda to St. Albert Honda. Now, our team has enhanced tools in a new and carefully planned facility to build on the high level of customer service in all aspects of our business.
2018 and forward — G.B. Business Enterprises d/ba as St. Albert Honda, RV City and RV City (South) will celebrate its 50th Anniversary of serving Albertans with the products and services we offer – it is a true honor.
